We  love the American Dream. It defines who we are as Americans, both to ourselves and the rest of the world.  In order to fulfill this vision, we have dedicated, some might even say, sacrificed, our lives to the attainment of this American Dream.

And it is because this pursuit of the dream has become so integral to our society and also, to our identity, that we felt inclined to find out, what exactly is it that we are chasing?

From its humble beginnings as an idealized vision of every individual’s right to equality, to the more materialized version featuring the ‘50s dream with the house, car and white picket fence; and most recently to the hyper consumption-focused version of the last 20 years, the dream has shifted over time, becoming the driving force behind our society and our economy.

So, what is your American dream?  One you created, or one society created for you?  Is there room for a new kind of dream, one that isn’t only about the job and the house and the money, but is maybe about community and what our legacy to future generations will look like?

These are the questions that have led us to make this film.
